How this desk works

New Hip-Hop Releases is an editorial index, not a news wire. We publish entries about individual songs and albums, longer features, and roundups, and we keep a written record of how each item was chosen.

The desk writes about what it can verify. If a release cannot be confirmed at an official source, it does not run here.

Every entry starts with an official source: the artist's or label's own upload, an official store or streaming page, or a verified announcement. We check that the audio or video matches the release we are describing, and that the artist named is the artist credited.

Selection is not a ranking. Coverage means a release cleared our checks and the desk had something worth saying about it. Popularity, playlist placement, and streaming numbers are not criteria, and we do not report traffic or listening figures we cannot verify.

Editorial judgement is never for sale: no sponsored rankings, no paid reviews, no affiliate links in editorial entries, and no payment influences whether a release is covered.

A separate paid product exists for homepage placement of an artist or track. Those placements are set and dated by the desk only, labelled Sponsored wherever they appear, and kept apart from coverage and weekly picks. Editorial decisions are made without reference to them.

The desk does not accept payment, gifts, or travel in exchange for coverage.

When we get something wrong, we correct it. Factual corrections are made in the body of the piece, and the change is noted at the foot of the article describing what was wrong and what it now says. We do not quietly rewrite published work.

If a correction involves a release date, a credit, or a link to a non-official upload, treat it as urgent: send it to the desk through the contact page.

We do not host or re-upload music. Listening is handled by linking to, or embedding, an official provider player that loads only when a reader asks for it.

Images are used only with a recorded credit and permission note. Where we have no cleared image, we publish without one rather than borrowing artwork. Rights holders can request removal through the contact page and the asset will be taken down while the claim is reviewed.

Entries are filed under the byline Editorial Desk. We do not invent staff biographies, credentials, or awards. Named bylines will appear only when a writer is contracted and agrees to be credited.
